The old bridge over the Cahcabuco RiverThe state of this bridge being bad, a temporary bridge was put up over the Chacabuco river 150m upriver from the old bridge, in order to take the old bridge away and construct a new viaduct at the same place, This procedure was done because the old bridge was situated on the best spot to cross that river.

Panorama Glaciar ExploradoresOn the left, one can see the side moraine- this is one way to enter the glacier. To find the start of the trail leading to the side moraine, search on the Southern side of the road about 15m before (or to the East of) the bridge over the Rio de Deshielos (coming from the glacier), there is one small drop after 5 mins of the trail, use a rope 20m and secure to the trees, if you are unsure.

Passage of Lucas BridgesClose to the Salton del Rio Baker, this passage provided access to the above situated Estancia Chacabuco and other places. The name of Lucas Brigdes (son of missionary Thomas Bridges) is connected with this place. He was the administrator of the Ea. Chacabuco, and put a lot of effort that this transport passage was done.

Passage of Lucas BridgesThe trail is still in good shape, and needs only minor repairs. Close to here, a big dam is proposed to be built by a company called HidroAysen S.A.
