Benito-Glacier Expedition for Martin Sessions & Associates (2007 February March - Chile)

Expedition in two phases with participants from Australia, UK, Norway, Chile and Germany. Targets: Observation of glacial movements, and ablation with DGPS, Identifying of trim lines, geological features, lichenology, tree-coring, bathymetrical observations at the para-glacial lake, observation of the climate and photography.

Volunteering for the NGO Raleigh International in the Temburong District, Brunei (2000 September to November - Negara Brunei Darussalam)

I had the great honour to participate in the International Expedition of Raleigh International to Brunei Darussalam, a country which is called rightly The Abode of Peace. For three months we worked at different project sides with young people in the beautiful tropical rainforests of the Sultanate

Guiding as a Project Manager for an NGO in Patagonia (2000 January to April - Chile)

Olaf volunteered for working as a Project Manager with the British based NGO Raleigh International in the Patagonian Andes. He could lead three different groups of young people through uspoiled and partwise unexplored territory.

Crossing the Baltic Sea in an open Sailing Kutter called WIKAN (1998 June; 1999 August - Baltic Sea)

In the summer of 1998 a group of seven intrepid sailors excelled due to their comraderie and their trusty Kutter WIKAN when crossing the Baltic Sea from Wolgast - Germany to Neksø-Denmark, and continuing to Sølvesborg - Sweden under the flags of the Friendships-Voyage. In 1999 the retour voyage Sweden to Wolgast was also done.

Explorations at and around the Northern Patagonian Icecape (1997 August -Chile)

Expedition which explored the Northern Patagonian Icefields and surrounding areas in Chilean Patagonia, duration was 88 days, of this timespan the participants Silvio Kühnel and Olaf Wündrich spend 55 days complete on the icecape. Sponsoring of the Expeditions special food needs: Globus Hoyerswerda.

Traverse of Greenlandic Icecape on Ski (1995 July to September - Greenland )

Supported and organised by its participants (Silvio Künel and Olaf Wündrich - Deutschland) and by Karl-USA, this expedition crossed the greenlandic icecape on ski, starting in Isertoq at the East side of this biggest island and finishing in Kangerlussuag in West Greenland. Covered distance on ice: About 611km in 43 days. They used Kites for about 5km during the trip.

Aconcagua (1995 March - Argentina)

Trip to Aconcagua, in Argentina, Expedition with different groups: Harro from Berlin reached short before the NP entrance, Silvio Kühnel upto a place called La Confluencia, Torsten Schlutzkus: Summit success - Solo!, Uwe Scherzer: upto the Canaletta; Olaf Wündrich upto about 6920m-Solo.

Ascent of Denali (Mt. McKinley), 6192m (1994 May - Alaska)

Solo-Expedition over five weeks, using the West Buttress route to climb Denali.

Skitouring on to the Greenlandic Inland Icecape (1993 July - Greenland )

Ski trip on to the Greenlandic Icecape, starting at Isertoq. The first 40 km over the crevassed area together with renowned Arctic traveller and UL pilot Harro Lorenz - Berlin, afterwards about 160 km solo.

Brooks Range, Denali NP and Kenai-Peninsula (1992 August -Alaska)

Four weeks of a solo explorationary trip to Alaska, main aim was to get to know the Brooks Range. Trekking there and later at the Kenai Peninsula further South and the Denali NP. Preparations of a one year stay in Alaska (1993-1994).

Svalbard Glacier Cave Expedition (1991 August - Svalbard)

Small Expedition over the course of three weeks, target was the exploration of glacier caves in Spitsbergen. selforganized and -financed expedition.

International Caving Expedition to the cave systems of the Tennengebirge in Austria, eight to twelve participants from Poland, Germany, The Netherlandsand Austria. Survey and Exploration.

Fagaras Mountain range crossing, Bucegi-Mountains (1988 September - Romania)

Traverse of the Fagaras mountain range and climbings in the Bucegi Mountains. Six team member of the caving club Freiberg ( Höhlen- und Kartsforschungsgruppe Freiberg)
