The refugio is situated in the green valley of the Baker river. It is surrounded by snowcapped mountains, and offers a multitude of possible activities. Rosendo and Lilli live there with their children Bernardo and Lorena in harmony with nature. |
 |
The small family has built themselves an idyllic place over years of hard work. The live off the land and from ecotourism, far away from stress and the bad influences of civilization.
Lilli will help us out a bit with Chilean and maybe even Bavarian cuisine, if we are at the refugio and we want that. Rosendo will at some stage accompany us to transport some of our provisions. |
 |
The refugio was built apart from their residencial home, to provide for privacy.
It has a cozy living with a very nice fireplace in its corner. On the kitchen herd, which is still functioning with firewood like in those pioneer days, one can cook tasteful dishes.
The refugio counts with a toilet and a very rustic shower. The sleeping quarters have room for four persons, two can sleep in a double staged berths and two on a big bed. Of course it is also possible to pitch tents on the green grass closer or further away from the refugio.
|
Despite of all this the little paradise is threatened in its existence by a the Mega Dam Project of an enterprise called ENDESA (or new: HYDROAYSÉN), which would, if they suceed, flood the valleys and cover away all Rosendos and Lillis land with water.
With your participation on this trip you are actively supporting the family in their challenging task to save their homestead.
At the next page we will introduce you to the "inner values " of the refugio....
