If we decide to move our basecamp forward to the other riverside, we will do a rivercrossing by boat today. We are hiking the pace we like towards our target(s), upwards we go. If we think it is enough for the day, we put up the Advanced BaseCamp (ABC). If we get lucky, someone with horses might bring us parts of the provision and equipment partly or all the way up to the ABC. But as it is, this has to be decided by the group, and if the route we chose is possible to go for horses. On this trip, every participant should do her/his best to support the group as a whole, means everyone is asked to carry as much of a share of the groups gear and her/his own gear as possible. | Tent | B,PL,D | |
The ABC is equipped, the weather is good (or we are optimists), wel today we can start going up and around to check for good easy routes. We will try to get some new and closer looks at the way which lays ahead, and move with care and safety concerns, as the group and its members request. We will have some snowshoes with us, so deep snow cannot stop us (so easily). In the end of the day we will return to ABC, making hot fluids and food and enjoy the sundowner in our stable tents. | Tent | B,PL,D | |
We continue with our tidious route finding jobs, and maybe get lucky today to reach a saddle or plateau. If a route seems possible and we want to return there the next day, we can also prepare and make a small depot of snacks and the like, so we have less to cary the next day. | Tent | B,PL,D | |
Today, if the weather is good, we have the chance to go high up or on top of one of the previously explored mountains. All the summit targets in the vicinity of the refugio are less than 2200m high, but this low altitude has nothing to say, if the valley floor is just a couple of meters above sea level. Important is not only the summiting, it is the experiences that each of us will have, alone or in conjunction with the group and the environment which will make those days special. So that we shall keep the impressions in our minds, and remember them long time afterwards. | Tent | B,PL,D | |
e break down the ABC and move to lower altitudes, towards the refugio (we might again cross the Baker river today by boat) Rosendo and Lilli will already wait for us, and will listen to our news. The evening meal can be - like the group agrees on doing it - an Asado - typical to the region and Patagonia, mostly consists of a BBQ of goats or lamb meat - or a nice meal with less / or no meat at all and more salads. Lilli will provide us with tasty bread, marmelade, eggs and other specialties from her own land, when we are staying at the refugio. | Refugio/ Tent
